When you book a trip with me, you’re not just hiring a guide — you’re fishing with someone who has spent more than 25 years writing, teaching, guiding, and living the angling life. My goal is to make every day on the water fun, productive, and educational. Whether we’re chasing striped bass in the Delta or hunting trophy trout at Collins Lake, you’ll come away with both fish in the cooler and new knowledge you can use for the rest of your fishing career.

Collins Lake is one of California’s best-known trophy trout waters, and for good reason. The lake is heavily stocked each year with thousands of pounds of rainbows, but it also produces trophy-class lightning trout and holdovers that push into double digits. When the water cools in late fall and stays cold through spring, Collins comes alive with trout feeding in the shallows and mid-depths.
On a Collins Lake trip, we’ll focus on proven methods to locate and catch these fish. Trolling is the mainstay, using spoons, soft plastics, and flies that imitate the forage base, but we’ll also mix in still-fishing tactics when the conditions call for it. Every trip is a chance not only to hook fish but also to learn. You’ll get a front-row seat to the same strategies I’ve shared for years in The Fish Sniffer Magazine and California Sportsman and on my Catch America YouTube channel.
Collins Lake trips are perfect for anglers who want both numbers of fish and a shot at trophies. Families, beginners, and hardcore trout hunters alike will find the lake rewarding, and I’ll make sure your day is memorable.
My season at Collins Lake kicks off on November 16 and continues through the summer months.
I charge $175 per day, per angler at Collins.

Each fall and spring, the legendary California Delta comes alive with striped bass. These runs bring waves of powerful fish into the system, and for a few short weeks at a time, the fishing can be nothing short of spectacular.
On my striper trips, we’ll target everything from feisty school-sized fish to true trophies that can push 20 pounds or more. Striped bass are among the hardest-fighting gamefish in the West, and when you hook one in the Delta’s current, you’ll know it instantly.
I provide all the tackle, bait, and instruction you’ll need. Whether you’re brand-new to stripers or an experienced angler looking to sharpen your skills, I’ll walk you through the techniques that consistently put fish in the boat. Because these seasons are short and the action is intense, striper trips fill quickly — don’t wait to reserve your spot.
My fall striper season runs from September 1 through November 15 and spring season goes from May 1 though June 15.
I charge $200 per day per angler on the Delta.

Kayak fishing isn’t just another way to fish—it’s one of the most effective and rewarding ways to connect with the water. Whether we’re targeting trout, bass, or channel catfish, fishing from a kayak puts you right in the strike zone, where stealth, precision, and control give you a real edge over traditional boat anglers.
This is one of my personal passions, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than introducing anglers to the power and excitement of kayak fishing.
On a guided kayak trip, I’ll show you how to confidently handle your craft, position yourself in wind and current, and dial in trolling and casting presentations that are perfectly suited for kayak fishing. From controlling speed and depth to reading water and finding fish, you’ll learn both the fundamentals and the finer points that consistently produce results.
We can explore everything from intimate High Sierra trout lakes to productive foothill reservoirs loaded with multiple species, or even the wide-open water of Folsom Lake. Whether you bring your own kayak or fish from one of my state-of-the-art Hobie pedal-driven kayaks, you’ll be equipped to fish efficiently and comfortably.
Fair warning—kayak fishing is as addictive as it is effective. Once you experience the stealth, the control, and the pure connection to the water, there’s a good chance you’ll be hooked for life.
Kayak fishing trips are available all year long for a variety of species.
I charge a base rate of $200 per day for anglers with their own kayak or $250 when using one of my Hobie kayaks.

For anglers who want to build skills as well as catch fish, I offer instructional trips tailored to your goals. Think of it as a guided seminar on the water. Want to master trolling gear? Learn how to read structure and water conditions? Improve your bait setups? We’ll focus on exactly what you want to get out of the day.
You’ll still catch fish, but you’ll also walk away with the confidence and know-how to apply these techniques on your own. This is an excellent option for anglers looking to shorten the learning curve and fish more effectively wherever they go.
A trout or striper trip with me will cut your learning curve by years.
They say 10% of the anglers catch 90% of the fish. Let me turn you into a 10 percenter!

Fishing trips with me are more than just a day on the water — they’re an adventure. Whether it’s battling striped bass in the Delta or hunting trophy trout from a boat or , I’ll make sure you go home with lasting memories, new knowledge, and hopefully a cooler full of fish.
